The colour, texture and pattern of a fabric would usually be the first thing that would spring to my clients' minds when choosing new soft furnishings for a window but a more fundamental consideration would be what are you using your room for and what are you expecting the window treatment to do? There's no point installing floaty sheer voiles in a bedroom when it's imperative that you are able to block the light out for sleeping. Alternatively sumptuous interlined curtains could obstruct too much light from a living space where you are trying to create an airy spacious feel. Do you need them to close or just dress the window? What time of day will the room be mostly used? Once you have made these decisions then the fun of choosing the right fabric and style begins!
